Inside Passage

The Inside Passage is a coastal route for oceangoing vessels between northern Washington state and Alaska.

The cruise log states ‘moderate seas’ for our first full day at sea. It felt pretty rough for many of us, especially the kids. I managed to avoid nausea with the help of Dramamine, ginger ale, and the Greenhouse Retreat.

I purchased a 7-day pass to the ship’s spa facilities allowing me to enjoy their hydropool and heated ceramic chairs between 8am and 10pm. Passes are limited to avoid crowding. Most days I showered here too since the spa showers were nicer than the one in my stateroom.

The hydropool is a massive hot tub with various jets, fountain, and built in lounge seating. The sea conditions turned it into a wave pool. Fun, but not as relaxing as when we reached calmer seas.
