Victoria, British Columbia

IMG_1389Our cruise ship was scheduled to arrive in Victoria at 6pm, but we were a few hours late.

Since our flight home was from Vancouver airport (YVR) we opted to disembark here. It was a short cab ride from the ship terminal to the Marriott. On Saturday we had time to wander around Victoria and visit a couple local markets, but unfortunately not enough to visit Butchart Gardens. I had mistakenly presumed that the ferry to Vancouver would depart from the same harbour as the cruise ships – 2 miles from where we were staying. In fact, Swartz Bay is an hour by bus from Victoria. BC Ferries organises a comprehensive bus-ferry-bus trip from downtown Victoria to YVR so it was a seamless ride. Once at the airport, luck was on our side and we caught the first standby flight back to Auckland. Yay…nearly home!
